Certified Lender Business Banker (CLBB)
 
The ICB and the Arab Academy for Banking and Financial Services, Amman, Jordan have signed an agreement which allows the Arab Academy to market, promote and offer the Certified Lender Business Banker (CLBB) certification examination in its market territory.

  • How is CLBB attained?
    The CLBB certificate can be attained upon passing the CLBB exam that is held twice a year (May and October) at the Arab Academy for Banking and Financial Sciences head office in Amman or any of the AABFS's branches in the Arab Region.

    letter is required from the direct supervisor of the qualifier verifying his/her experience

    he candidate is required to sign a work ethics form prepared by ICB and CCFB

The exam consists of 150 multiple-choice questions to be taken in three continuous hours (calculators or any other tools are not allowed).

    • First section: Credit Analysis(40% weight
    • Second section: Ethical and Regulatory Issues(5% weight)
    • Third Section: Banking Products and Services(15% weight)
    • Fourth Section: Loan Structuring for Small and Micro-Business(20% weight)
    • Fifth Section: Problem Assets(20% weight)
  • Professional Knowledge Areas
    • Credit Analysis
      You must have a thorough understanding of accounting, evaluation of repayment ability (using historic and projected financial information in addition to non-financial factors such as management ability, ownership and organization), cash flows, collateral and guarantees.
    • Ethical and Regulatory Issues
      You must understand the entire spectrum of federal laws and regulations, the Uniform Commercial Code, lender liability, environmental liability, bankruptcy and ethics.
    • Banking Products and Services
      You must possess knowledge of both credit and non-credit products and services that relate to business customers as well as identification of prospects and sales/negotiation techniques.
    • Loan Structuring for Small and Micro- Business
      You must have knowledge of how to identify and select appropriate loan structures, repayment sources, pricing, collateral, covenants and conditions, documentation and credit enhancements.
    • Problem Assets
      You must know the "early warning" symptoms of problem assets, how to develop workout strategies, how to re-evaluate collateral, how to classify a loan as well as allocation parameters for reserves and bankruptcy repercussions.

  • Passing Rate
    Candidates should secure 50% to qualify for CLBB certificate
  • Exam Fees
    Originally US$ 290, Examination with The Arab Academy is free of charge
  • Certificate Fees Issuance
    • US$ 200 payable one time/Academy Members.
    • US$ 295 payable one time/Non-Academy Members.

Upon passing the exam the candidate will become a member of the Institute of Certified Bankers affiliated with American Bankers Association, ABA, Washington D.C., as well as at the CCFB of the Arab Academy.

    Each certified member will be required to realize 50 training hours during the three years following passing of the exam to enable him/her to renew his/her certificate after the three years have been concluded, To assist our members in meeting this goal, ICB recognizes a variety of continuing education options:
    • Attend a professional education event. AABFS, among many other providers, offers excellent professional development options including conferences, workshops, seminars, forums
    • Write articles for national magazines, newspapers or newsletters
    • Contribute to the development of a book or some other document by serving as an author, reviewer, or
      editor
    • Submit test questions for CLBB exam
