Duration and Advising
It takes holders of the Master’s degree in Information Systems and
Technology approximately (3) years to complete their degree program.
The PhD program is made up of (54) credit hours, (36) of which are
courses and (18) credit hours for the dissertation. Holders of the
Masters degree in specializations other than Information Systems and
Technology may take longer time to complete their course
requirements depending on the number of prerequisite courses they
may have to take, to build on their previous inexperience. A faculty
advisor in the field of study is assigned to advise the student and
plan their course work during their tenure in the program.
Admission Pre-Requirements
In addition to a
Masters degree with a minimum grade of “Very
Good”, the applicant should fulfill the
following admission requirements:
Complete an application form.
Submit two copies of each of the
Bachelor and the Master degrees and all
relevant officially accredited
transcripts.
Submit the result of the TOEFL Test,
with a minimum score of (550), or an
equivalent English Language Test score
acceptable to the College. However, this
requirement should be completed before
the registration of a student's
dissertation.
Submit three recent letters of
recommendation prepared by prior
professors or job supervisors.
Pay a non-refundable application fee
of (JD 25).
All submitted documents are
non-returnable, and are regarded the
property of the College.
Applicants for the PhD program may
obtain an “Application for Admission”
form from the Admission and Registration
Office. Admission is open three times a
year, but applications should be
submitted at a reasonable time before
the start of each semester. The first
semester begins in September, the second
in February, and the third in June. This
office also reports the academic
performance of the students to their
individual advisors and sponsors, if
any.
Graduation
Requirements:
The degree is
granted after fulfilling the following
requirements:
Completion of all the following
graduation requirements:
Successful completion of all
degree courses.
Passing the TOEFL Test with a
minimum score of (550) or an
equivalent English Language Test
score acceptable to the college.
Passing the Comprehensive Exam
in its two parts: the written and
the oral in all courses included in
the Comprehensive Exam Plan. If the
student fails the comprehensive
exam, he is allowed to sit for it a
second time. If he fails again, he
will be dismissed from the program.
Preparing an 18 credit-hour
dissertation in English language,
and successfully defending it before
the assigned committee.
Providing the Academy's library with
(8) accredited copies of the
dissertation and its synopsis, in
addition to the copies belonging to the
president and members of the committee.
All copies must be printed at the
expense of the student.
Completion of the college's
graduation requirements.
